Clemson Young Entrepreneurs FREE Camp!!!

Clemson University is hosting the Clemson Entrepreneurship Residential Summer Camp 2026 during the week of JULY 20-24, 2026. This camp is free of charge. Students only need transportation to and from Clemson and spending money.

This program is open to any rising junior or senior students who have not previously attended our resident camp. A nomination from a teacher, counselor, or community leader. Student qualifications:

• Must have demonstrated resiliency and grit in the face of adversity.
• Must have demonstrated entrepreneurial traits and, maybe even, entrepreneurial successes.
• Must have demonstrated the maturity to behave respectfully in group settings.
• Will represent you personally and your school or organization.
• Must currently face significant family and societal challenges.

Nominations should be emailed to Dr. Barnes (arbarnes@richland2.org). The application will be emailed to the student to complete at that time.

Juniors & Seniors, Have You Purchased Your Prom Ticket

Students can ONLY purchase prom tickets when they do not have a class, from 8:10 – 8:45 AM, and during both lunches. The Fees Office closes 4:00 PM each day. 

If all student fees are paid, parents and students can request to add the prom fee to their student accounts. However, prom fees must be paid online by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 1st.

Testing Season is Here: “Free to Focus” Matters

The halls are a little quieter and the stakes feel a little higher—it’s testing season in South Carolina. After months of hard work, students across the state are ready to show what they’ve learned. However, there’s one hurdle that has nothing to do with the curriculum: unauthorized devices.

The Risk Isn’t Worth the Reward: In our latest video, “You’re Smarter Than That,” students and educators come together to deliver a vital message. In the age of constant connectivity, it can be tempting to keep your phone or smartwatch close by. But during a state test, “close by” is too close.

The “Zero Tolerance” List Includes: Cell phones, Smartwatches, Smart glasses. Whether it’s in your pocket, on your wrist, or on your face, having these devices during a test is a serious violation.

What’s at Stake? It’s not just about a “slap on the wrist.” A violation can lead to:

1. Invalidated Results: Your entire test could be thrown out, making your hard work disappear.
2. Serious Consequences: Violations can lead to heavy fines and even legal action.

You’ve Got This: As the South Carolina Department of Education emphasizes, you’ve worked too hard to risk it all now. The goal of the Free to Focus initiative is to ensure every student has a fair, distraction-free environment to succeed.

You don’t need a search engine or a text message to prove your worth. Trust your preparation, leave the tech in your locker, and remember: You’re smarter than that.

A Historic Verdict: Mock Trial Ranks 4th in State!

The Richland Northeast High School Mock Trial Team recently concluded a record-breaking 2025–2026 season, finishing an impressive 4th in the entire state of South Carolina. The team made school history during the Regional Competition by winning all three rounds with near-perfect scores, making them one of only eight teams out of 44 to advance to the State Championship. Individual honors were abundant, with Abigail Geppert, Markell Watson, Sydnee Turner, and Caroline Brandes earning “Most Effective Attorney” awards, while Nathaniel Britt, Prashika Pandit, Tristan Featherstone, and Tayla Hunter were recognized as “Most Effective Witnesses.” This season also marked the successful debut of RNE’s first-ever courtroom support team, featuring a dedicated journalist and two courtroom artists.

This monumental achievement was made possible by the hard work of the students and the unwavering support of Lead Teacher Coach D.E. Thompson, Lead Attorney Joseph Bias, and attorney coaches Tiara Pitts and Lauren Williams. The team’s Regional State Advancement Plaque will soon be displayed in the main office as a testament to their dedication. Looking forward, RNE is already recruiting for the 2026–2027 season and encourages interested students to contact dethompson@richland2.org to join this championship-caliber program. Congratulations to the entire “powerhouse” team on a season that will truly be remembered!

This on-site hiring event is designed to provide employers with the opportunity to hire talented individuals as they graduate high school and wish to begin a full-time career. Participating students should be identified by school counselors and career specialists prior to this event as being career ready with a base line of employability skills and credentials to enter the workforce and possess the desire to begin a full-time career after graduation. Student Council, a Gold Honor Council & More

The South Carolina Association of Student Councils named our 2025-2026 Student Council as a Gold Honor Council. In addition to this award, Student Council President Journey Schofield received the Terry McCoy Hall of Fame. They also received 1st Place awards for their Community Service and Outreach projects and School Spirit and Pride Activities. Their School Recreational Activities received 2nd Place.
