The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) has named its individual national finalists and Richland Northeast has several. Theย Bezos Scholars Programย application is now open, and we want to share more about this amazing opportunity!ย Thereโs no experience like the Bezos Scholars Programโa transformative, year-long, no-cost leadership development program that amplifies youth voice and action so young people with passion can start making a difference today.ย Each year, 17 high school juniors and an educator from each of their schools are selected from across the United States and Africa as Bezos Scholars.
The program is open to juniors at Richland Northeast High Schoolย along with a school staff member they nominate as theirย educator, who participates alongside them throughout the program. Successful applicants have a strong commitment to their education and demonstrate maturity, curiosity, perseverance, and leadership. Those who are selected receive:ย ย
- An all-expenses-paid trip to Aspen, Coloradoย ย
- 40+ hours of leadership skill-building
- Unlimited coaching hours from the Bezos Scholars staff team
- FREE college advising
- $1,000 in funding to launch a community change project
Halloween Supply & Demand

Mr. Butler’s Economics class participated in a real-world lesson on Supply and Demand got a little interesting. Some of his students got rich (paper money) selling Halloween candy to any and everybody. Even Mr. Butler, their teacher, was not excluded from this activity and had to purchase candy from one of them.

Spring 2023 SAT Registration is NOW Open
Registration is now open for the Spring 2023 SATยฎ administrations. An announcement will also be sent to juniors with existing College Board accounts. By completing one free Timed Mini Section or Diagnostic Quiz onย Official SAT Practice on Khan Academyยฎ, students can earn entries into drawings for $500 and $40,000ย BigFutureยฎ Scholarships.
