Accuplacer Test

Midlands Technical College will offer The ACCUPLACER test at Richland Northeast High School, Wednesday, October 12th. Interested seniors who want to take the test must sign up and complete a FREE Midlands Technical College application by 3 PM October 11, 2022. Please check the Senior Google College Center classroom for instructions or email Mrs. James, cjames@richland2.org.
Midlands Technical School Information Session

Midlands Technical College is offering an informational session for 9-12 grades at R2i2, Wednesday, October 5, 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Instructors from the School of Health Care, School of Business, School of Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) as well as all the other studies will be available to share information and answer your questions. Discover how you can get ready for a great career in two years or less or transfer to a four-year college or university at Midlands Technical College!

Richland 2 Weather Update

Richland School District Two will switch to an e-learning/remote work day on Friday, September 30, 2022, due to the potential for hazardous weather associated with Hurricane Ian. This means all school buildings and district facilities will be closed and all after-school activities are canceled.
Asynchronous instruction will be provided to students. Our teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom and will have virtual office hours for students who may need assistance. All assignments must be completed and submitted by Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in order for the student to be marked present for Friday, September 30, 2022. Bagged meals for Fridayโs breakfast and lunch will be provided for students to bring home with them today.

Updated Serving Detention Hours Flyer

We are working diligently to make the tardy policy and serving detention hours as easy as possible. Below you will find the updated Detention flyer and here is the link to the Detention Flyer so that you may click the links and access the Google forms that will be used to sign up for After School Detention and Saturday Work Detail. There are 30 spots available for each day for ASD and 30 spots for each date for SWD. Tutoring has unlimited spots.
Accepting Homecoming Nominations

Nominations for Mr. & Miss Homecoming and Prince and Princess are now open. Homecoming King & Queen must be a Senior and Homecoming Prince & Princess must be a Junior. Students must meet the following qualifications to be nominated. Please check your email for the nomination form sent by Mrs. Cherry. The nomination must come from a staff member.
- Be a part of a Richland Northeast club or organization
- Have at least a 2.0 Grade Point Average
- have no major disciplinary concerns
- Have CCR status or can show proof of working towards becoming CCR
Taking the SAT – Digital Version?

Now that SAT is going digital, the district has updated the testing Kiosk of students’ Chromebooks with the new College Board testing site, BlueBook. Students will need to know the email address and password to their College Board accounts to access the site. Students with an older model Chromebook (round end charger) can trade it in for the newer model (flat end charger). To access the Testing Kiosk, students will need to sign out of their Chromebook and click the App icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. They will select BlueBook.

Silver Cadet Band Are Grand Champions



On Saturday, September 26th, our Silver Cadet Band students participated in their first competition of the school year at the Low Country Battle of the Bands hosted by Woodland High School in Dorchester, SC. The students performed well, winning every category in their class, and outscoring every band in the competition. Please help us congratulate the Low Country Battle of the Bands Grand Champions — Richland Northeast’s Silver Cadet Marching Band!!!

They’re kicking off the season with Real Talk: HBCU Edition. Wednesday, September 28th, they will feature representatives from Clafin University, Dillard University, Howard University, Norfolk State University, and Spelman College. Thursday, September 29th will feature Fayetteville State University, Hampton University, Morehouse College, Morgan State University, and Texas Southern University, representatives.

Senior Shadowing Day, October 12th

All Seniors who have CCR Status will be allowed to participate in Senior Shadowing Day. CCR Seniors are encouraged to job shadow with a family member or close family friend. Senior Shadowing Day forms are available on the Work Based Learning website. All Senior Shadowing Day forms are due by Friday, October 7th. If you are absent on October 12th and did not submit the Senior Shadowing Day forms by the deadline will result in an unexcused absence for October 12th. So get those forms in as soon as possible. This Wednesday, we will have an “Activity Day ”. Students will meet with their clubs during lunch. There will also be a presentation from Benedict and Allen University in the courtyard to recognize HBCUs, in recognition of National HBCU week. $500 AES Engineering Scholarship
Award Amount: $500.00
Entry Deadline: October 8, 2022The AES scholarship will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted, and is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post-secondary educational facility. Students are not required to take Engineering courses to be eligible.

Work-Based Learning Credit

Students, do you work off-campus? Did you know that you can earn a Work-Based Learning (WBL) credit and/or your CCR certification? All we need is your signed Supervisor Agreement and the hours you worked at the end of each month. You cannot earn credits without that signed document. Please understand that your hours will not count without the signed Supervisor Agreement. We will keep all paperwork on file for 3 years.
Cavalier Student of the Week

This week’s Cavalier Student of the Week is Wesley Farris. Wesley earned CCR Status by scoring well on the ASVAB Career Assessment and the WorkKeys Exam. If you do not have CCR status, you will be able to participate in testing on October 12th. Congratulations Wesley and to all Seniors who are College and Career Ready! It’s your turn now!

Alpha Academy Applications Due TODAY
The Omicron Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated is now accepting male high school seniors into the Alpha Academy. This program provides mentorship and guidance that assists in preparing the participants for college
and adulthood. Additionally, the aims of the Alpha Academy are to promote academic excellence, leadership development, social enhancement, civic responsibility, and an appreciation for cultural heritage. Interested applicants must complete and submit the application by September 23, 2022. Each selected participant will be required to participate in cultural, educational, and leadership development programs from September 2022 through June 2023.For additional information about the Alpha Academy program and access to the application, click on the image above. Introducing RNH National Merit Semifinalist

On September 14, 2022, the National Merit Scholarship Foundation announced their 2023 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. Among the 16,000 names listed was Senior Nathaniel Cason. Nate will have an opportunity to compete for 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholarยฎ title. Finalists will compete for one of 2,500 National Meritยฎ $2500 Scholarships and approximately 950 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships. Congratulation Nate.
