We want students to know the importance of career awareness and pursuing careers that may be unfamiliar to them. We appreciate your willingness to give back to the youth of our community. CavPlex Students Win National Awards

CavPlex students headed to St. Louis for the National High School Journalism Convention. They competed against over 1500 other students. For the first time in the history of CavPlex, students won awards in the National Student Media On-Site Contests! This also marks the first awards for students under Mr. Rawson. Congrats to:

  • Yearbook Sports Caption (Excellent Rating): Will O’Bradovich
  • Broadcast Anchor (Excellent Rating): Lillian Mirosavich
  • RNE-TV won Third Place for Broadcast Program.
  • Best Literary Magzine Spread Design (3rd Place): Dixie Johnson, Aniyah Daniels, and Karrington HowardCollaboration between CavPlex and PCA Art 
  • Broadcast News Story of the Year (2nd Place): Mask Mandate Mary Jayne Davis, Te’Veon Cooper, and Kamea Hosendove
  • Broadcast News Story of the Year (4th Place): School Safety Lillian Mirosavich, Sam Weiss, and Elizabeth Marinez-Pacheco
  • Broadcast Feature Story of the Year (Honorable Mention): New To America Deim Marion Gannaban and Evan Cano
  • Broadcast Feature Story of the Year (Honorable Mention): Band Auxilary Kamea Hosendove, Mark Smith, and Tyler Stodghill
  • Broadcast Commentary of the Year (Honorable Mention): Hair Discrimination Jazmin Fletcher and Alani Hamilton
  • Broadcast Commentary of the Year (Honorable Mention): School Safety Mary Jayne Davis and Kamea Hosendove

Congrats to PCA’s Region Orchestra Members

Please join us in congratulating Myles Blair, Sanaa Blair, and Owen Catron. The Region Orchestra audition is a rigorous audition where the students compete against other students in the Midlands Region. Their next audition is for the All-State Orchestra where they will compete with peers across the state of South Carolina.

Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA) is a dynamic organization with an eye on the future.
MEBA is committed to helping students transition successfully from school to work and lead happy and productive lives. Through business partnerships and career development programs and resources, they bring relevance to classroom learning for students of all ages. They also impact the Midlands workforce by connecting educators with businesses to create programs that align curriculum with work skills needed today and tomorrow.

Silver Cadet Band, 2nd Time Grand Champions

Please help us congratulate the Silver Cadet Band. They participated in their 2nd competition of the school year at the Keith Dabreu Battle of the Bands hosted by Darlington High School in Darlington, SC. This competition featured bands from the Pee Dee region of the state as well as the Midlands, Low Country, and a host of schools from North Carolina. Our students performed very well and not only won 1st place in the 1A class division but also outscored 13 bands to once again earn the highest award of Grand Champion!
