Report Cards & Child ID Kit Distribution

Act 180 of the Child ID Law (2002) requires school districts to make Child ID kits available to parents. We have received a shipment of Child ID kits for our students. These are inkless, at-home kits parents/guardians can use to take their child’s fingerprints and store them safely at home. While there is no obligation for you to proceed with taking and storing your child’s fingerprints, doing so allows you to have your child’s vital information, fingerprints, and DNA in a safe place should you ever need it. Child ID kits are taken and stored at home and should only be given to law enforcement in case of an emergency.
On Monday, April 3rd, RNE will distribute report cards and this kit. Students will be directed to give their kits to their parents/guardians. However, if your child forgets to give you the kit, please ask for it. The Child ID kits have been made available to us through a partnership with the SC Attorney General’s Office, SC Department of Education, Duke Energy, and Dominion Energy.

RNE-TV Is Best In the Nation

Yes, the heading is correct. RNE-TV is the best in the Nation according to STN (Student Television Network). STN, the largest national organization for student broadcast journalism, held its national convention in Long Beach, California on March 8th. This is the first year CavPlex Magnet Director, Mr. Chambers, chose to enter RNE-TV in STN’s Broadcast Excellence competition, their most prestigious award. And YES they won STN’s Broadcast Excellence award. Now it’s official, not only were they named Best in the Nation, but they have won every prestigious national broadcast journalism award. In the journalism world, this is larger than the Emmys! We are so proud of CavPlex and the broadcast journalism students!!!
