Future of IB at Richland Northeast

In 2010, the K-12 IB continuum was implemented based on an interest in a rigorous curriculum with a global perspective. Since that time, additional opportunities for students to have this experience have become available through our districtwide AVID strategies, Advanced Placement courses, and Dual Enrollment options. Richland Two will no longer offer the IB programme as a Choice option at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year. Students currently in the program will have an opportunity to finish at their current school level. There will also be an option to apply for another magnet program when the application window opens on December 12 and runs through January 25, 2023.
You may be asking, what does this mean for my student(s)? Richland Two will begin phasing out the IB program at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year. Juniors and Seniors: Richland Northeast is committed to continuing to provide services to IB Diploma track juniors and seniors. Freshmen and Sophomores: Parents of freshmen and sophomores met virtually with Principal Mark Sims about future plans and opportunities for students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Fowler, our Assistant Principal over Instruction, by email (dfowler@richland2.org).
Michelin Field Study, January 25th

Michelin is offering a field study to its Lexington Plant on January 25th. This opportunity is for Richland Two Juniors and Seniors who are interested in the STEM, manufacturing, and potentially working in the industry field. Richland Northeast has 6 slots to fill and priority will be given to Seniors. The event will take place at Michelin US 7, 2400 Two Notch Road, Lexington, SC 29072, from 11:30 to 2:30. Lunch will be provided for all attendees. For more information, see Mr. Sumter in Room or email him (msumter@richland2.org). Seats not filled will be given to the other Richland Two high schools.
