Yates Receives National Merit Recognition

Ambrose Yates was among 34,000 students named a Commended Student in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. According to the NMSC spokesperson, Yates “demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success [and]… represents a valuable national resource. Recognizing her accomplishments, as well as the key role [Richland Northeast High School] plays in her academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.” Yates will be placed among the top 50,000 students entering the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT. Congratulations, Ambrose. We look forward to hearing more about the 2023 competition and your accomplishments in the future.

Senior Shadowing Day Forms Due TODAY (10/7)

All Seniors who have CCR Status will be allowed to participate in Senior Shadowing Day. CCR Seniors are encouraged to job shadow with a family member or close family friend. Senior Shadowing Day forms are available on the Work Based Learning website. All Senior Shadowing Day forms are due TODAY. If you are absent on October 12th and did not submit the Senior Shadowing Day forms by the deadline will result in an unexcused absence for October 12th. So get those forms in as soon as possible. There’s No Place Like Homecoming

Homecoming is next week!!!. More details about dress days coming next week. Student Activities is also hosting a Homecoming Dance, Thursday, October 13th, from 6-8 PM in the Auxiliary Gym. Tickets are $5. All grade levels are welcome but must be wearing your Richland Northeast school ID to enter the dance. RNE Alumni, we want your spirit as well. Please come out to the game against Lugoff-Elgin, Friday, October 14th at 7:30 PM. Purchase your tickets early

Fall Blood Drive

Students who are 16 years old, can click HERE to register and schedule their appointment. They are also required to submit a Parental Consent form to S102 or the Main Office on the day of the blood drive.

7 Students Receive National Recognition

Adedolapo Famuyide, Everett Joyner, Fraea Morley, Kenyin Mcbee, La’deja Williams, Tamron Bufford, and Tyshaun Witherspoon earned College Board’s Nationalย African American Recognition Award because of their academic achievements in school and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQTยฎ, PSATโ„ข 10, and/or APยฎ Exams. They’ve accomplished these milestones during an immensely demanding period of their high school career. We couldn’t be more delighted to share this great news.

Culture of Excellence & Premier Starts Here Recipients

Ms. Sharpe (on the left) is RNE’s Culture of Excellence recipient for October. According to Mrs. Fowler, Ms. Sharpe consistently exhibits excellence in the classroom, motivates and encourages students, faculty, and staff, serves as a leader in the classroom and throughout the school, and demonstrates the importance of civic responsibility by being active in the community or other service organizations.

Ms. Evans, our Premier Starts Here awardee, is not only a true example of the RNE Vision, but she also demonstrates creativity and imagination in all she does for the school and her students, promoting our tiered system, spreading positivity throughout the learning community, promotes academics, the arts,  and athletics for all, and displays one of Richland Two ILEAD tenets.

Midlands Technical School Information Session Tomorrow

Midlands Technical College is offering an informational session for 9-12 grades at R2i2, Wednesday, October 5, 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Instructors from the School of Health Care, School of Business, School of Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) as well as all the other studies will be available to share information and answer your questions. Discover how you can get ready for a great career in two years or less or transfer to a four-year college or university at Midlands Technical College!

Teen Read Month Contest

October is Teen Read Month and the Media Center is sponsoring a Get Caught Reading Photography contest. The contest is open to all students. Photos should be of people reading. For contest rules, please email Mrs. Brown at wbrown@richland2.org. Photos not meeting the guidelines will be disqualified. 1st place prize is $40, and 2nd place prize is $20. A prize will also be awarded for the Cavalier Favorite.


Homecoming Week Dress-Up Days

We will be hosting a Homecoming dance, Thursday, October 13th, from 6-8 PM in the Auxiliary Gym. Tickets are being sold during both lunches in the courtyard. In the case of rain, tickets will be sold in the Science Atrium during both lunches. All grade levels are welcome, and you must have your RNE School ID to enter.
