    Academic Updates

Can you believe it? We are almost finished with the 1st quarter. We wanted to remind you of some important information. With the quarter ending on October 11th, you should see at least 9 minor assignments and 3 major assignments in each of your child’s courses. Content Recovery for any Major assignment is available to all students and must be completed within 2 weeks of the assignment being recorded in Parent Portal. In order for the student to participate in Content Recovery, the protocols listed below must be followed.

    • The District Content Recovery form must be completed and submitted to the teacher.
    • The student must attend at least 1 hour of tutoring with the teacher prior to retaking/resubmitting the major assignment or assessment.
    • The highest grade will be recorded in the teacher’s gradebook/Parent Portal.

If you have any questions about academics or would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact your child’s School Counselor.

    Attendance Matters

Every period and every day. When students are absent, they miss approximately two lessons’ worth of work due to our 90-minute block classes. Students may only miss 5 days for a one-credit course and 3 days for a half-credit course. Students who exceed this limit will be required to complete Seat Time in order to recover the absence. Failure to recover excessive absences will result in students receiving an FA (Failure due to Absences) in the course no matter what grade they receive in the course. When making appointments for your student, please try to avoid school hours or scheduling appointments at the same time of day.

For questions about attendance, please contact Mrs. Clarke (gclarke@richland2.org or 803.699.2800 ext 79818)

Students are allowed five (5) absences in any year-long A Day or B Day course, five (5) absences in any semester AB course, and three (3) absences in any half credit semester A or B day course.ย  According to the South Carolina Attendance Laws, all absences count towards students’ attendance. This includes those that are unverified, verified with a parent or medical note, and out-of-school suspensions. Any student exceeding the allotted totals will receive a failure due to attendance unless absences over the requirement are not recovered through seat time.ย

Students must report to the locations above on time and with their school-issued Chromebooks. Students who do not have assignments to complete in the course needed Seat Time Recovery will be given Edgenuity assignments to complete. Richland Northeast is offering Seat Time Recovery as follows:
